Notable Highlights

  • Sponsoring the resolution making Dane County a sanctuary for transgender and nonbinary residents which passed 25-1.

Reestablishing the Good Samaritan Law in WI

WI currently lacks a Good Samaritan Law that protects aiders and individuals experiencing overdose which greatly impacts WI public health.

The Dane County Board of Supervisors urges the reestablishment of a statewide comprehensive Good Samaritan Law.

Creation of a Harm Reduction and Prevention Center

With more than 1 million people dying of a drug overdose since 1999 and the increased presence of synthetic opioids, the Dane County Board recommends a centralized harm reduction center. To do so, they recommend that $800K in Opioid Settlement Funding be made available to Public Health Madison & Dane County (PHMDC).

Stop Violence Against Women Act

WI's domestic abuse statistics reveal that 1 domestic violence homicide occurs every 3.7 days, with victims aging from infant to 81 years old. The Dane County Board amends the operating budget to increase STOP domestic violence lines by $62,500.

Cannabinoid Product Prohibition Under 21 Years Old

This ordinance prohibits the sale of cannabinoid proudcts to persons under 21 years of age, amneding chapters 2 & 34 of the Dane County Code of Ordinances. Restrictions, penalties through violations, and a schedule of deposits is outlined in this ordinance.
